At Bear North Sauna, we believe an authentic Finnish sauna experience should be tailored precisely to your lifestyle, space, and property. As a premier builder of custom saunas in MN, we blend precision engineering with time-tested Finnish traditions to craft spaces that stand up to harsh Northern winters and offer a lifetime of daily wellness. Whether you are transforming an underutilized indoor space, building a standout lakefront retreat, or designing a commercial spa, our Minnesota-based team works directly with you to bring your vision from concept to first heat.

Seamlessly integrated into master suites, basements, or home gyms. We design custom indoor saunas with proper vapor barriers, tailored layouts, and premium timber to fit your exact floor plan.

Create a brand-new sauna or transform an existing traditional one into the perfect infrared or combination sauna for your home.

Built as standalone backyard sanctuaries or lakefront cabins, our outdoor builds are insulated to withstand Minnesota winters while delivering traditional wood-fired or modern electric heat.
Begin with Bear North
The Process
Creating a custom sauna is a team effort. Your first step is to connect with Bear North. We'll work with you and your designer to guide you through the custom sauna design process. By understanding your space, vision, and our capabilities, together we'll help map out the perfect sauna for your home.
We will help you to make decisions about:
Room Size & Layout
Heater & Controls
Wood Types
Interior Design
Backrest Design
Doors & Windows
Lighting
Delivery & Installation
Next, we’ll review the design, produce a CAD drawing, and confirm everything can be manufactured. We might offer suggestions to enhance the design. Once you approve, we’ll craft the sauna parts to meet your exact needs. The complete sauna kit is then delivered, ready to be installed.
From there, your Bear North installation team, or your own, will take over and fit the sauna into your prepared space. The result will be a fully customized sauna made just for you.

Engineered for the Upper Midwest Climate
Designing a custom sauna in Minnesota or the Dakotas requires special consideration for extreme temperature swings. A poorly insulated build leads to slow heat-up times and premature wood degradation. At Bear North Sauna, our construction process incorporates heavy-duty vapor barriers, full thermal insulation, and properly calculated airflow systems—ensuring efficient operation, rapid heating, and dense, soothing steam (löyly) no matter how cold it gets outside.
Pricing depends on dimensions, heat source (electric vs. wood-fired), site preparation, and custom features like glass fronts or integrated cold plunges. We provide detailed estimates and 3D design concepts during our initial consultation.

Absolutely. Basements, spare closets, and master bathrooms are popular choices for custom indoor conversions. We handle proper waterproofing, ventilation, and electrical specs to make it seamless.
